My Top 10 Multiplayer Video Games

Switching it up this time, as I didn’t feel like writing a third Marvel article. This time around, the article is dedicated to video games… more specifically, my top 10 multiplayer video games. Now this top 10 list is not a list of my “most played games”, rather it’s a list about multiplayer games that I have enjoyed playing the most and more importantly enjoyed playing with friends the most. Now don’t get me wrong, a lot of the games on this list are some of my most played games, but not all of them are, meaning these games are more than just games that I have played a lot.

1. Black Ops 3 – Mainly Zombies + Multiplayer

My favorite multiplayer video game ever! Black ops 3 had it all for me… it had a great multiplayer system with great maps, and it had a great zombie’s mode. I remember staying up till 2 or 3 in the morning attempting to accomplish Zombie Easter-Eggs, and I also remember staying up till 2 or 3 in the morning playing GameBattles with my friends. This game was truly the best of both worlds for me, as before Black ops 3 was released, I was never truly a fan of Call of Duty multiplayer, as I mainly stuck to zombies; however once Black ops 3 was released, that all changed… I became a multiplayer fanatic, while also maintaining an immense amount of love towards zombies. Overall, Black ops 3 offered me and my friends an immeasurable amount of opportunities to play and have fun.

2. League of Legends – Ranked

I don’t even know why this game is on my list, but it is. League of Legends (in particular Solo-queue) is probably my least favorite game ever (besides Fortnite), at certain times; however, at other times league of Legends is easily my second favorite game of all time. What I mean to say is that this game tiptoes over my Love/Hate line and is either my least favorite game or one of my favorite games. Now I know you may ask yourself “well then shouldn’t it be 10th if it can easily be your most hated game, next to Fortnite”? So, let me just state this…. Even when this game is one of my least favorite games ever…. I still play the fuck out of it, and still try to enjoy it. Now the reason I do this is because of that feeling when you win a ranked game, or more importantly when you rank up and enter new divisions. Basically, what I’m trying to say is I’m addicted to this game, and that I’m always searching for that next high (next win, and or promotion). Anyways, League of Legends is a fun game if you enjoy extremely toxic communities, really shitty game clients, horrible customer service and enjoy being able to choose from over 100 unique characters.

3. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 – ZOMBIES

As mentioned in my BO3 overview, Black ops 3 was the first COD game to do it all for me. But previous to Black ops 3 being released, there was a little game called Black ops 2, and its here where you will find one of my favorite zombie/game maps ever created, and that map my friends is named “Mob of the Dead”…. for some reason, this map is still to this day my favorite zombies map of all time…. Even though the map is hella clustered and hard to survive on, and dark and annoying, it is and will always be my favorite map. With that being said, all the other zombie maps in this game were also fucking incredible and fun (besides Transit… that shit sucked). To be honest, I think if you ask players who enjoyed zombies, I believe majority of them would say that BO2 had the best zombie maps of all time… now their favorite map may differ from mine, because Mob of the Dead is an unusual favorite map. Overall, the zombie’s mode alone in this game was enough to make it my 3rd most beloved multiplayer game, so who knows… maybe if I was into Cod Multiplayer than maybe this game would be my all time favorite.

4. Halo 2

I mean… do I really have to say anything about this game? I think anyone who had an Xbox has Halo 2 in their top games of all time. What I will say is this, being able to akimbo weapons was super sick and fun and the times that I did play multiplayer, I loved it and thoroughly enjoyed my time.

5. Halo Reach

Now I know many people may disagree or think I’m stupid for choosing Halo Reach over Halo 3, or any other of the Halos… but hear me out, this game had the best infected game-mode out of any Halo and I truly enjoyed that. During the release of Halo Reach, I was at the peak of my zombie gaming career, meaning I was heavily invested into game-modes where the main goal was to survive for as long as you can. Halo Reach infected was then the perfect game-mode for me when I wasn’t in the mood to play against “Bots”. I also thought that Halo Reach’s story was fucking sick and I loved the ending and this idea of being a “lone soldier”. Halo Reach for me, then was a game with a great story mode and a great infected mode… maybe not the best multiplayer mode (excluding infected) in the Halo series, but with its infected mode being so much fun and having one of the coolest Halo characters to exist (Emile), Halo Reach easily takes my 5th spot.

6. Minecraft

I mean come-on… much like Halo 2, I think majority of people love Minecraft and have it somewhere in their favorite multiplayer games, simply because of how addicting it is and how peaceful it is. To me Minecraft has always been my un-winding game, meaning I play something stressful beforehand and then after the stressful event is done, I load up my Minecraft world and go diamond hunting. Now what this means is, Minecraft will always have a place in my heart, simply because it meshes with my play style so much… but what it also means is that Minecraft will never be in my top 5, as it’s a game that I see as more of a companion rather than a solo-game. Of-course, you are free to disagree with this and believe that I am stupid for thinking this because Minecraft does offer a lot… but the way I play it and the way I view the game is through this lens.

7. Destiny

Now, I wouldn’t say I’m the worlds biggest fan of Destiny… I think my older brother holds that title… but what I will say is this. Destiny is a very fun game, with a lot of cool gameplay elements and mechanics, and while it may not be in my top 5, I have had some amazing times playing this game and doing raids online with my friends.

8. Overwatch

If you asked me 3 years ago if I liked Overwatch, I would have said “no I don’t like it… I love it”. But times have changed and my love for Overwatch has completely diminished to the point where I completely despise the game. Overall, it has been 3 years since I last played Overwatch and I couldn’t be happier… the game brought me nothing but anger and madness, and lost time. The only reason its even on this list and not dead last is because of all the fun times I had playing with friends….

9. The Division

Picture this, you are in high-school and its March break, and everyone has gone away on vacations, besides you and one your close friends, what do you do? Now at the time… the Division had just come out (or it came out recently… it was a new game), and so I suggested to my friend that me and him should duo-play it and play it until our other friends get back and then we can continue to play the games we normally play, once they return back from vacation. He thought it was a great idea, and so we both purchased the game and played it all March break. During this break we would stay up until 4 or 5 am just grinding out loot and trying to survive the outside zone (or whatever the danger zone was called – the place where PVP & PVE occurs). The game was incredibly fun, but that fun only lasted for one march break and then we were back to other games, hence why this game is not higher on my list.

10. Mario-Kart (Nintendo Switch version)

I was stuck… I couldn’t think of a 10th game to put on my list, and while I could easily have put Fortnite on my list… as I have had fun times playing that game online; however I decided against putting Fortnite on my list, because much like Overwatch I now completely despise that game with all my heart… however unlike Overwatch, Fortnite doesn’t hold much weight in my mind, and so I chose Mario-Kart. Choosing Mario-Kart was my scapegoat, and I say this because I hate the *online* multiplayer system that this game has, but I love its *couch* multiplayer system. What this means is that, technically this game isn’t a “multiplayer” game, like the other games on this list are, rather this game is on my list because it’s a great *in-home/couch* multiplayer game.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, if there is one thing I want you take away from this article its this.... I HATE Fortnite and cannot wait for that game to stop being popular.
