This post is going to be a little different than my other posts. For this post I want to discuss my favorite artist X. I think its hard for anyone in the music industry or anyone who keeps up to date with up-and-coming artists to not know who X was and yet I still feel like he needs more advertising. But I don't want to just pin down his style, because when discussing X that almost seems like an impossible task. And this is what made me a fan of his, it was this undeniable talent that he had. I remember the first time I listened to X, it was in 2016 and my friend sent me Look At Me!, instantly after pressing play on this song I knew he was going to be popular, and yet no one believed me. Everyone who I told about X shrugged me off because his music was too angry, or because it was mumble rap, but X is neither of those things and yet he is both of those things. X does have mumble rap songs, and he does have angry music, but he also had sad music (no pun intended), and mood music, and pop-culture music, and lyrical rap, and folk-music, and so many other styles of music. X could be fit into so many genres but no genre could fit into his personality. The funny thing is, most of X's music gets destroyed by critics because its "not finished". Now I'm going to say something controversial but bear with me... X's music was never finished and that's what made it finished. His music was expressionistic music, meaning say less = feel more... he even states this on a track titled "Introduction (instructions)" on his album "?". So why do reviewers review his music like other music? Its just like how you wouldn't look at KISS and compare them to Taylor Swift, they are two completely different entities who aren't trying to accomplish the same goals with their music. X was a different entity, he didn't fit into any genre, because he was creating his own genre; that's why its so hard to compare him to others and so hard to review his music, because he was the first one to do it at an intellectual level.

X was truly the artist of this generation... people can say "Oh but Drake has been around longer" or "X doesn't have that many listeners"... but no one was or had accomplished what X was accomplishing before his passing. X was one of the most talked about names in the music industry because of 2 albums and 1 song, even more impressive.... these albums were released only 1 year apart. He also didn't have any other famous artist connections, I mean sure A$AP Rocky mentioned him once, but this didn't give any value to X. The only true connection that X had in the music industry was the one he came up with Ski Mask The Slump God. X was paving a way for himself and a new generation of artists, a generation of expressionism. Its sad that his life got cut short, but he left behind so many incredible songs that his legacy doesn't have to get cut short... and so i ask you to understand this if you are a X fan... his posthumous albums are finished properly. I trust John Cunningham and X's family, and don't believe that they would have produced his music and released it if it wasn't finished or at least able to be finished in the way X would have wanted it. Think about how much X meant to you as a fan, and now imagine the feeling his family and friends would have had towards him. Don't let X's music die, listen to it every day and remind yourself that we lived during X's rain of terror.
